Connector testing generally involves the following items: insertion and extraction force test, durability test, insulation resistance test, vibration test, mechanical impact test, cold and hot impact test, mixed gas corrosion test, etc.

The specific testing items for connectors are as follows:

(1) Connector insertion and extraction force test

Reference standard: EIA-364-13

Purpose: To verify whether the insertion and extraction force of the connector meets the product specifications.

Principle: Fully insert or remove the connector at the specified rate, and record the corresponding force value.

(2) Connector durability test

Reference standard: EIA-364-09

Purpose: To evaluate the impact of repeated insertion and removal on connectors and simulate the actual insertion and removal status of connectors in use.

Principle: Continuously plug and unplug connectors at the specified rate until the specified number of times is reached.

(3) Connector insulation resistance test

Reference standard: EIA-364-21

Purpose: To verify whether the insulation performance of the connector meets the requirements of circuit design or whether its resistance value meets the requirements of relevant technical conditions when subjected to high temperature, humidity and other environmental stresses.

Principle: The resistance value presented by applying voltage to the insulation part of the connector, resulting in leakage current on the surface or inside of the insulation part.

(4) Connector voltage withstand test

Reference standard: EIA-364-20

Purpose: To verify whether the connector can work safely at rated voltage and withstand overvoltage, in order to evaluate whether the insulation material or gap of the connector is suitable.

Principle: Apply a specified voltage between the connector contact and the contact, and between the contact and the shell for a specified time, and observe whether there is any breakdown or discharge phenomenon in the sample.

(5) Connector contact resistance test

Reference standard: EIA-364-06/EIA-364-23

Purpose: To verify the resistance value generated when current flows through the contact surface of the contact.

Principle: By applying a specified current to the connector and measuring the voltage drop at both ends of the connector, the resistance value is obtained.

(6) Connector vibration test

Reference standard: EIA-364-28

Purpose: To verify the impact of vibration on the performance of electrical connectors and their components.

Vibration type: random vibration, sinusoidal vibration.

(7) Connector mechanical impact test

Reference standard: EIA-364-27

Purpose: To verify the impact resistance of connectors and their components or evaluate their structural stability.

Test waveform: half sine wave, square wave.

(8) Connector cold and hot impact test

Reference standard: EIA-364-32

Purpose: To evaluate the impact of rapid changes in temperature difference on the functional quality of connectors.

(9) Connector temperature and humidity combination cycle test

Reference standard: EIA-364-31

Purpose: To evaluate the impact of connectors stored in high temperature and humidity environments on their performance.

(10) High temperature testing of connectors

Reference standard: EIA-364-17

Purpose: To evaluate whether the performance of terminals and insulators has changed after the connector is exposed to high temperature environment for a specified period of time.

(11) Connector salt spray test

Reference standard: EIA-364-26

Purpose: To evaluate the salt spray corrosion resistance of connectors, terminals, and coatings.

(12) Connector mixed gas corrosion test

Reference standard: EIA-364-65

Purpose: To evaluate the corrosion resistance of connectors exposed to different concentrations of mixed gases and their impact on their performance.

(13) Connector wire sway test
